We're always looking for helpers
It's easy for you to get involved and help us deliver safe enjoyable experiences to our riding clients.
Each session on a Saturday has a maximum of four riders at a time, and, depending on the ability and confidence of the rider, each rider can have up to 3 support people accompanying their ride. One might lead the horse on a rope, while up to 2 others will walk beside the rider to help with balance, concentration, and enjoyment.
So, you could be helping the rider hold the reins properly, encouraging the rider with a smile and a few words, or pointing out features in the arena to aim for or avoid.
The focus is on safety and enjoyment, but all the while we are encouraging balance, core strength, concentration, and communication.
If you're not familiar with horses, we can show you how to lead a horse safely, or walk beside a rider to provide extra encouragement and a safe pair of hands, while the more experienced side-walkers help translate the Coach's instructions to the rider.
If you'd like to try, drop us a line and we'll arrange an introduction with one of our experienced volunteers.
We operate almost every Saturday throughout the year, from 9:30 - 2:00 with a minimum of 5 x 30-minute sessions for different abilities.
Could you do that?
